Garrett County Government and the Garrett County Department of Economic Development are working closely with local, regional, state, and federal agencies to coordinate comprehensive resources and programs for those individuals dislocated by the closing of the Verso (Luke) Mill.

The Western Maryland Consortium is a regional workforce development agency that offers job search assistance, resume development, interest testing and evaluation, and skill training.

Services available through the Allegany County American Job Center include workforce development and adult learning - the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Program, unemployment, and dislocated worker services, as well as job search assistance.  DLLR also offers registered apprenticeship programs through its Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Program (MATP).
