Since its founding in 1982, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s influence and reputation has reached far beyond Western Maryland. It is one of only four professional symphony orchestras in the state.
Under the baton of Music Director Elizabeth Schulze — whom The Washington Post calls “a superb conductor” — the MSO has become a first-class orchestra of exceptional artistic quality.
The MSO romantic summer program will feature works by Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky, with Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition finalist Yulia Gorenman as soloist.
Program Overview: “Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture,” Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini,” with award-winning pianist Yulia Gorenman, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 Op 36. Note that this concert will not include a pre-concert lecture.
