A new shopping option is now available in McHenry in the Market Square Shopping Plaza.
Tru South is a lifestyle apparel and outdoor recreation store owned by Tim and Missy Ingram. They also have another location in the Meadowbrook Mall in Bridgeport, W.Va.
“I feel the thing that makes us unique is that we can offer many outdoor products along with lifestyle apparel all in one location,” Tim Ingram said.
Lifestyle brand products include Oakley, Costa, Yeti, Simply Southern, Southern Marsh, Southern Tide, Jadelynn Brooke, Ivory Ella, Lauren James, Salt Life, Sperry, Chaco, Olukia, Rainbow, Sanuk, Puppie Love, Southern Couture, Natural Life, Alex and Ani and many others.
On the outdoor recreation side, Tru South carries name brand products such as Spyder, O’Neill, Dakine, Oakley, Kavu, Columbia, K2, Ride, Burton, Polarmax, Black Strap, Feelfree Kayaks, 3 Waters Kayaks and many others.
“We’ve been open for approximately six weeks now and have had great feedback from the locals,” Ingram said.
The Ingrams also own Mountainside Lawn Care.
“We have been in business for 22 years and provide customers with lawn maintenance and snow removal needs in the Bridgeport area,” Ingram said.
Another venture owned by the Ingrams is an outdoor/recretaion store called Xtreme Sport. It originally opened seven years ago at a plaza in Bridgeport, and quickly grew and moved into the Meadowbrook Mall.
“As our business grew we felt there was a need for Southern-themed lifestyle apparel in our area,” Ingram said. “We brought in a few lifestyle brands to test our demographic and it sold well. That’s how Tru South was born and we launched our first store in the Meadowbrook Mall in May of 2017.”
This success led to the Ingrams wanting to combine both the outdoor rec store and the lifestyle store and bring them to a resort area to see how well both would come together.
Ingram said he’s been skiing at Wisp for 30 years and absolutely loves the area.
“We enjoy the mountains, and having the lake is an added bonus,” he said. “It’s only a little over an hour to our other stores, and it just felt right when I first noticed our space located here in Market Square.”
He noted that he feels that property owner Hugh Umbel does a “fantastic job” of taking care of his property.
“It’s such a wonderful feeling standing in the store and seeing the resort,” he said. “We feel blessed to be given this opportunity to be a part of a beautiful area and community. We’re looking forward to many years of providing locals and tourists awesome products and a wonderful shopping experience.”
Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A grand opening date will be announced soon. The shop can be found on Facebook at Tru South/DCL Outfitters and on Instagram @ trusouthmd.
