Breathe Grace Medical Supply LLC was recently opened in Oakland by Jackie Rodeheaver and Nat Bittinger.

Both are graduates of Northern High School and live in Garrett County.

The shop offers durable medical equipment, meaning that it is not meant to be used once and thrown away, but can withstand repeated use.

“Our main service will be respiratory services,” Rodeheaver said. “We will be offering CPAP/BiPAP equipment and supplies for the treatment of sleep apnea. Whatever equipment or supplies a person uses, there is no limit to what we can provide for them.”

The shop will also offer oxygen therapy, including the latest tankless portable systems.

“This will allow people who are on oxygen therapy more freedom, if their health allows,” Rodeheaver said. “Instead of having to carry around large, heavy tanks, we are offering a portable concentrator option that has been a very popular alternative throughout the country. We are excited to be able to bring that opportunity to Garrett County and the surrounding areas.”

Currently, these medical items cannot be billed to insurance. However, Rodeheaver stated that she is in the process of becoming accredited in order to bill private insurances, as well as Medicare and Medicaid.

“The accreditation process required us to be open and operating before we could apply,” she said. “As we work through this process, we are able to offer equipment as an out-of-pocket expense. We are looking to be fully accredited in the next couple of months.”

The store also sells bath safety products like shower chairs and bedside commodes, as well as various mobility assistance products like wheelchairs, walkers, cans and rollators.

“We also carry Dr. Comfort Shoes,” Rodeheaver said. “This is a line of shoes designed specifically for diabetics, with thicker soles to give those patients better support and protection.”

A line of scrub uniforms is also available for health-care professionals in the area. This currently includes Dickies and Cherokee uniforms and Littman stethoscopes.

A 10-percent discount is offered for those who bring an ID badge from a medical facility. In addition, a rewards program is available. After purchasing five pieces, the sixth is 50-percent off.

Rodeheaver is a graduate of Allegany College of Maryland and is a National Board of Respiratory Care registered respiratory therapist licensed in the states of Maryland and West Virginia.

“Although I have worked in various hospital settings, I have spent most of my career working in the durable medical equipment field,” she said.
She worked for the largest durable medical equipment company in the tri-state area until it closed in 2015.

“After its closure, the local area went without something that it needed,” Rodeheaver said. “Durable medical equipment is a growing need in our country and in Garrett County, and people still want the home town service that we have always been accustomed to.”

Rodeheaver stated that she realizes that people want to be able to walk into a store and get questions answered or receive supplies.

“In the world of online ordering, it’s very convenient, but it’s not always the ideal situation, especially when it comes to healthcare,” she said. “By opening Breathe Grace Medical Supply, we will be able to provide great customer service right at home. Your health is your priority, it will be ours too.”

Rodeheaver explained that her company will service the tri-state area, including into Allegany, Preston and Mineral counties.

“If you are looking to find a hometown supplier that is going to treat you with kindness, respect and appreciation, then stop in and see us or give us a call,” Rodeheaver said. “I love what I do and I am very excited to be bringing this business to Garrett County and the surrounding area.”

The store slogan is “The right choice is right here,” and Rodheaver stated that she and her staff operate this way every day.

“My staff and I hope that you will be blessed in every interaction you have with us,” she said.”Ephesians 2:10 says, ‘For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (New International Version.) I believe that God led me to open this business to fulfil the good works that he prepared for me. I am truly blessed with this opportunity. The great thing about it is that by pursuing my dream, I get to help other people do the good works that God prepared for them to do, as well.”
