The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce has announced its upcoming Business After Hours and Business Before Hours events.

This month’s Business After Hours will be hosted by Wisp Resort next Sept. 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., on the Patio and in the Crawford Room at the Lodge at Wisp (formerly known as the Wisp Resort Hotel & Conference Center).

Guests are invited to enjoy delicious food as they mingle with fellow chamber members and chamber staff at this monthly networking event. Chamber members can bring their business cards and enter them in drawings to win prizes.

“After $2 million in renovations and improvements, the Lodge at Wisp welcomes guests with a more modern and functional hotel with updates to all 169 rooms, refreshed meeting space, a new entrance and a courtyard with fire pit,” said Nicole Christian, chamber president and CEO. “Plus, Wisp Resort introduced ResortBoards this summer, which will be available for demos during the Business After Hours.”

The cost to attend this event is $6 for members paid in advance and $10 for nonmembers and members paying at the door.

Registration is available online at visitdeepcreek.com, by contacting Holly Lane via email at holly@garrettchamber.com or by calling (301) 387-6171.

The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce will also host its next Business Before Hours Sept. 19, featuring the sixth annual Business & Industry Appreciation event.

The program, sponsored by Clear Mountain Bank and Railey Mountain Lake Vacations, will be held in the Mountain Mist Tent at Wisp Resort from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Breakfast and networking is scheduled from 8 to 8:30 a.m., followed immediately by the program.

“The purpose of the program is to recognize the economic development, job creation and investment that is happening in our community,” Christian said.

Garrett County Commissioner Jim Hinebaugh will provide an economic development update. The program will also feature the recognition of new businesses, growing/expanding businesses and businesses that have hit milestones of 50, 75 or 100 years in operation. Certificates and plaques will be presented to identified, eligible businesses and companies.

“The chamber is very pleased to be working with Garrett County Department of Economic Development to present the 6th annual Business & Industry Appreciation to help emphasize all of the growth and development in our community,” said Christian. “This program creates awareness and promotes the potential for future economic development in Garrett County. And it affords us the opportunity to recognize those companies and entrepreneurs that are investing in our community and providing jobs for local residents.”

The chamber and Department of Economic Development will honor 54 new businesses, nine expanding businesses and three businesses for reaching a milestone for continuous operation, she noted.

“We believe that the number of new and expanding businesses in Garrett County is greater than most people imagine it to be,” said Christian. “It is a positive sign of the continual innovation taking place in our community.”
