MBE Program Goal & Subgoals Discussion Sessions Planned

Last Updated on Jul 24, 2017 at 1:42pm | Garrett County Economic Development

The Governor's Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs is hosting two public discussion sessions pursuant to the consultation requirements under State Finance and Procurement Article 14-302(a)(1)(iv)(2). The purpose is to garner input on the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Program's overall goal and subgoals in consultation with the small business community, minority, women and general contractor groups, community organizations, and other officials or organizations which could be expected to have information concerning the availability of minority- and women-owned businesses, the effects of discrimination on opportunities for MBEs and efforts to establish a level playing field for the participation of MBEs . Input is being sought from businesses in the state's marketplace on several areas, including:

--MBE and non-MBE availability in the local marketplace
--Effects of discrimination on opportunities for MBEs
--Suggestions regarding the setting of overall MBE goal and subgoals
--The appropriateness of the overall MBE Program goal and subgoals

In addition to the public discussion sessions, input and comments are also being collected through an online survey
