Jacksonville, Fla. – Alex McCoy, Director of Garrett County Economic Development has been selected as a winner in the economic development profession’s 40 Under 40 awards, the only award of its kind recognizing young talent in the economic development profession.
An independent, six-member selection committee evaluated and chose the winners based on their exceptional contributions to the economic development industry. The award’s program was managed by Development Counsellors International (DCI)

As the Director of Garrett County Economic Development, McCoy works with existing and potential new businesses seeking to expand or relocate within Garrett County. McCoy plays a role in developing and marketing the community’s business assets, overseeing local incentive programs, assisting with workforce development, crafting economic development related policies, and advising on legislative agendas. McCoy serves as the co-chair of professional development on the Maryland Economic Development Association’s (MEDA) Board of Directors.
“It is an honor to have a MEDA member recognized for their dedication to transforming lives in Maryland,” said Pam Ruff, Executive Director of MEDA. “Our organization is full of passionate people like Alex, and I look forward to continuing our work enriching Maryland’s communities,” she continued.
