WASHINGTON, D.C.-

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) announced today approval of a grant in the amount of $500,000 to the Board of County Commissioners for the Keyser's Ridge Business Park Water Infrastructure, Phase I.

The applicant requested ARC support to construct a source water treatment plant and associated infrastructure which will serve the Keyser's Ridge Business Park and surrounding Keyser's Ridge community. The project will construct a 600 square foot, 0.05 MGD capacity water treatment plant and 3,950 linear feet of  water line in order to leverage private investment, create jobs, improve the local community, and provide 14 businesses and 22 households with improved access to water infrastructure.

The construction of a water treatment plant at Puzzley Run will lessen the burden that is currently being placed on the existing Grantsville water treatment plant which is operating with a negative production capacity. Utilizing Puzzley Run as a source for the new water treatment plant will more sustainably and efficiently meet the water capacity and pressure needs of the Keyser's Ridge Business Park and the surrounding community.

In addition to ARC funds, state sources will provide $800,000, bringing the total project funding to $1,300,000.
