"Who's New" is a regular feature of The Lake-Front magazine and is being reprinted here in its entirety with permission. This article originally appeared in the August 2016 issue.
Fun Unlimited is now open and going strong. Centrally located just north of Deep Creek Lake, Fun Unlimited offers a total of 94 arcade games in a building that has been extensively renovated and updated. With its new system of affordable pricing, this arcade is fast becoming one of the premier family fun destinations in Garrett County and the Deep Creek Lake area.
The owner, who has local interest and rental properties says, “There are generally three recognized genres of arcade games and we offer all three.” Vintage games (mostly 60’s to 70’s) are found in a separate area that is for those sixteen and older. Here you will find ball bowlers and baseball games, shooting galleries and thirty of those games you may remember from that time period, offering fond memories as well as fun.
Classic (1980’s) and Modern (year 2000+) games are available in a large separate area with lots of elbow room. Three of the newest games available are here, including “Fast & Furious.” Driving games, pinball machines and many others are here and are all set for free play.
The difference between Fun Unlimited and most arcades is that here you pay only for the time you use, after a minimum time, and you can continue over and over again until you are done. Your unit cost actually goes down as you play longer since the rate is reduced with time. For even further savings, you will find some special pricing this summer: every child that pays to play gets to have one parent play FREE. Two children, two parents play FREE, making for a rousing round of fun at truly wallet-friendly prices.
Fun Unlimited offers more for your enjoyment with a bright new kitchen offering quarter pound hot dogs, pizza, chicken Quesadillas, chips, soft drinks, and chips. All food is discounted when you are playing, but still available to go. Next to the kitchen is a warm, comfortable lounge where you can enjoy your food and connect your laptops.
Fun Unlimited is located just off of Route 219, only about 100 yards onto Route 42, about a quarter mile north of Archie’s Barbecue. For the summer, Fun Unlimited is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. For information, to inquire about having a party, or to call ahead for a pizza, call (301) 750-2150.
