Two Garrett County farms will be featured in upcoming episodes of “Maryland Farm & Harvest” on Maryland Public Television.
Segments on Hunt Valley Farm, Swanton, and Harding’s Ginseng Farm, Friendsville, will air in separate broadcasts on Dec. 22 and Jan. 12, respectively.
“We try to make all the episodes interesting and uniquely enlightening,” said Sarah Sampson, executive producer. “In both cases their stories are interesting and the characters are interesting.”
Maryland Farm & Harvest, which is in its third season, puts a human face on Maryland agriculture, telling stories of the people, skills and technology required to sustain and grow the state’s number one industry.
“Everybody is interested in knowing where food comes from. People want to go to farmers’ market and the show gives you a look beyond the farmers’ market. The show goes to farms, talks about families and looks at farmers as people,” said Sampson. “What has made the show so popular is the pure wow factor. Maryland is a very diverse state. The show tends to surprise and educate people.”
